The Process

  1. Intake and Initial Consultation

The process starts when you request intake forms:

The Intake and Initial Consultation consists of a large number of forms and checklists that are completed and mailed back to Silver Mountain Center.

Once the forms have been received, Dr. Sprecker reviews them and reaches out to schedule a virtual consultation to discuss her findings. During the call you will discuss your questions, her impressions, and the logical next steps.

Many families receive the information they seek during this initial consultation.

Further Cognitive or IQ testing provides a much deeper understanding of a child’s strengths and weaknesses.  The tests which best suit the child’s needs will be determined in the initial consultation.

2. Cognitive Testing

At Silver Mountain Center we offer all of the individually administered IQ tests including Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Fifth Edition (WISC V), Woodcock Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities, Fourth Edition (WJ IV), Stanford Binet, Fifth Edition (SB 5). We also administer the Stanford Binet LM when indicated.
Main reasons why you may want IQ testing for your child:
·      Most gifted programs require individually administered standardized IQ testing for admission.
·      When advocating for your child, quality cognitive testing provides solid facts and information.
·      If Twice Exceptionality is identified, cognitive and academic testing are required for an Individual Education Plan.

  • Testing can usually be scheduled within three weeks of the initial consult, and a report will be delivered four weeks after testing is complete.

3. Additional Assessments

Academic assessments are valuable when advocating for accommodations and guiding educational focus and enrichment.  Dr. Sprecker screens for several common misdiagnoses and missed diagnoses such as ADHD, and visual, auditory, and sensory processing issues.
The most common academic assessments administered at the Silver Mountain Center are the Kaufman Tests of Educational Achievement 3, and the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test IV.
Additional screening tests are available to more closely examine specific areas of development.
